Type of Oral-B Brush Heads:

Oral B Brush Heads Chart
As you many know, there’s a brush head available for each dental need. Some brush heads are suited for daily use and others are for special use. Here are the details on them:

Daily Use Brush Heads:

  • CrossAction Brush Head: gives you the best plaque removal along gum lines. Features angled bristles are set at 16 degrees to reach deep between teeth and remove up to 100% more plaque vs a regular manual toothbrush.
  • FlossAction Brush Head: Features MicroPulse bristles that give you floss-like cleaning experience. Cleans between the teeth for superior cleaning and plaque removal.
  • Precision Clean: 5x more powerful plaque removal along the gumlines.
  • Deep Sweep: The closest brush to traditional toothbrushes, but more powerful. The triple zone brush features a moving tip to clean hard to reach teeth, the middle section features different length bristles for sweeping between the teeth and for surface cleaning.
  • Dual Clean: the best of two worlds, the Dual Clean features 2 moving brushes, one moves side to side and the other oscillates and pulsates for twice the cleaning action.

Special Use Brush Heads:

  • ProWhite: dentist inspired brush, featuring a polishing cup that removes surface stains.
  • Ortho: Specially designed for braces cleaning.
  • PowerTip: designed for cleaning around dental work.
  • Sensitive: features extra soft bristles for sensitive teeth and gums.

Which Is The Best Oral-B Brush Head To Use?

The right way to choose the best Oral-B brush for you is to decide which dental issue you want to focus on fixing.

For Plaque Removal: If you have a plaque issue, your best choice would be the CrossAction which gives you 100% more plaque removal than manual brushing. Precision Clean is another great choice for plaque removal.

The Difference Between CrossAction vs. Precision Clean head brushes:

The difference is in the design itself. The CrossAction featured angled bristles that should go into and between the teeth. The Precision Clean has evenly leveled bristles.

For Between teeth Cleaning: If you have even the slightest gaps between your teeth, food will find its way and settle there. Using the FlossAction brush head is the best way to get rid of this issue. It gives you flossing like experience, cleans tooth-by-tooth. The MicroPulse bristles (the yellow bristles) pulsate between your teeth for a thorough clean.

For Powerful, yet, Traditional Cleaning: If you like the feel of a manual toothbrush, but want a more powerful cleaning experience, the Deep Sweep is your best choice. It looks like your traditional toothbrush, but features moving sections that give you superior cleaning.

For Whitening: the obvious choice for whitening is the ProWhite brush. The polishing cup works on scraping off surface stains and whitening your teeth within 2 weeks.

Common Questions About Oral-B Brush Heads:

Are Oral-B Brush Heads Interchangeable?

Yes, they’re interchangeable. This means you can use all brush heads with different Oral-B rechargeable electric brushes: Oral-B 1000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 7000. Only SOME brush heads fit older models like: Vitality Sonic, Sonic Complete, Pulsonic. So please check if the specific brush head you’re buying fits your brush handle.

How Long Do Oral-B Brush Heads Last? How Often Should They Be Changed?

Dentist recommend you change your brush heads every 3 months. Oral-B’s brush heads have special bristles that will change color (the blue will fade into a lighter shade) when it’s time to replace them.

How Do I Change the Replacement Head?

Simply put the brush head up and it will be removed. Insert the new one and you’re all set!

Where To Buy Oral-B Brush Heads?

You can buy them locally at your supermarket, or online from Amazon or Oral-B’s website.

Is It a Good Idea To Buy Generic Brush Heads?

There are some companies that sell non-branded, generic brush heads that fit Oral-B toothbrushes. These are much cheaper than the original brush heads, which might make them appealing to buyers. We do NOT recommend that you buy them at all, and here’s why:

  • While generic brush heads do work, they have terrible quality and will not last you a long time.
  • They’re not designed to help you with your dental issues. They may even end up harming your teeth.
  • They cost less to buy, but you have to replace them more often than the original Oral-B brushes, which ends up costing you more eventually.
